Tata Indian Institute of Skills (Tata IIS) wins “Pioneering Institution of the Year – Higher Education & Skills” at the IDA Awards 2025

New Delhi / Ahmedabad / Mumbai: Tata Indian Institute of Skills (Tata IIS) has been awarded the prestigious ‘Pioneering Institution of the Year – Higher Education & Skills’ at the IDA Awards 2025, presented by the India Didactics Association (IDA). The award ceremony was held at Yashobhoomi (IICC), New Delhi, during DIDAC India 2025, Asia’s largest education and skills exhibition.

The IDA Awards recognise institutions that demonstrate exceptional innovation, measurable impact, and leadership in the skill development ecosystem. Among several top nominees, Tata IIS emerged as the winner, reinforcing its position as a national leader in advanced skilling.

Tata IIS is a Section 8, not-for-profit company established to set up and manage the Indian Institute of Skills Ahmedabad (IIS Ahmedabad/IISA) and the Indian Institute of Skills Mumbai (IIS Mumbai/IISM) in partnership with the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, with additional support from the Government of Gujarat for IIS Ahmedabad.

Tata IIS provides skilling and upskilling solutions across all levels – freshers, working professionals, entrepreneurs, corporate teams, and faculty. Its programs span Advanced Manufacturing, Robotics, Automation, Electric Mobility, Additive Manufacturing, CNC Machining, Metrology, Hospitality & Culinary Arts, and the newly launched Retail domain. Since the launch of IIS Ahmedabad and IIS Mumbai in 2024, Tata IIS has trained ~800  learners, and has achieved 86%+ placement outcomes across Advanced Manufacturing, EV, Automation, Hospitality, and Retail sectors. The institutes house 11 advanced labs equipped by 20+ global OEMs and are supported by 85+ corporate partners, academic institutions, and funding organisations. IIS Mumbai was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in October 2024, marking a landmark moment in India’s skilling journey. Tata IIS is now preparing to introduce advanced training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity, further strengthening its offerings in India’s fastest-growing skill domains.

Our Logo

Inspired by the tree of knowledge, this logo implies a tree with interspersing dots representing various skills that the institute offers, making it a wholesome skilful tree. The tree’s bark represents individuals with different mindsets coming together with a common purpose of growth. Lastly, one can subtly see the acronym IIS which also represents students as figurines.

Our Impact

To date, we have trained and placed around 300 students. Our alumni are working with notable companies, such as Torrent Power, Powerlite Electricals,  Taj Hotels, Indian Accent, and Hyatt.  Equipped with holistic technical and business skills, many alumni have also chosen the path of entrepreneurship to realise their dreams. 

We firmly believe in inclusion. Identifying segments that need us the most is one of our goals. We are mindful of reaching the tribals and marginalised and ensuring maximum women participation.

Campus and Infrastructure

Coming up on a sprawling 20-acre plot in Nasmed village, our state-of-the-art campus is meticulously designed to provide a conducive environment for learning. We believe in investing in the future and the campus infrastructure design is in sync with this philosophy. The buildings, while architecturally simple and sustainable are designed to instil a sense of pride and inspiration. To encourage practical learning, the classrooms have integrated labs that are equipped with the latest industrial equipment, that provide exposure to actual manufacturing practices.

The initial phase of development includes cutting-edge academic buildings spanning 40,000 sqft. Equipped with advanced technical labs specialising in Advanced Manufacturing and Electric Vehicle domains, these facilities can accommodate over 750 trainees annually. As we progress, our vision extends to creating a 3L+ sqft Ahmedabad campus with hostel facilities, catering to training in Advanced Manufacturing, Electric Vehicle, Electronics, and Hospitality sectors.
